The second stage of the MEDO Space Programme is SpaceTrek, a week-long intensive boot camp – which was held from 5 to 11 January 2016 at High Africa Conference Centre in Worcester. This camp saw 14 selected young women learning about telecommunications, satellite construction, calibration, and data analysis. Each day consisted of a series of group activities, guest presentations and had a dedicated theme designed to further the learners’ knowledge in STEM and to provide them with the necessary experience to develop the payload for Africa’s first privately owned satellite. They also designed, built and calibrated their own Cricket Sats that were launched into the atmosphere with the help of high altitude balloons. See the exciting experience in this short clip.
